OnlyFans announces ban on adult content from October!

OnlyFans has shocked the adult content world today by announcing that it will be banning explicit content from its site starting in October! The London-based company which exploded during the pandemic, has amassed over 130 million users to date – many of which sell adult material.

Citing pressure from their payment processors, OnlyFans did add that nudity would still be allowed on the site, ‘providing that it is consistent with OnlyFans’ policy’, however this is something that has left many users confused and frustrated.

One consequence of OnlyFans’ incredible rise to prominence over the past 18 months, is that it has of course found itself coming under scrutiny from some sections of society, and it’s fair to say that not everyone approves of the adult industry making it so easy for new, young people to join with few barriers to entry.

As a result, in recent times we have seen OnlyFans make strides towards other industries as away of trying to rebrand themselves and alter their image in the public eye. This has seen an influx of new creators from the music industry, fitness experts, chefs selling cooking tips, and all kinds of other content creators looking for a way to monetise their talents.

This is what an OnlyFans spokesman had to say on the matter:

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”

Now, it looks like OnlyFans are really serious about this transition after all.

So what now for the tens of millions of adult creators who are currently using the platform? Well, there’s a lot of uncertainty amongst the community and this latest update from OnlyFans might well mean that many creators will have to find a new platform on which to sell their content on!

OnlyFans’ vague statement on what may still be allowed in relation to their policy makes it difficult for many people to be sure whether or not they’ll be affected, however the news paints a bleak picture for most adult creators using the platform.
